his 1 gram 24 karat pure [0.999 fine] "Big Game - Buffalo" Gold Note recognizes one of the five animals most difficult to hunt, known by safari operators as "Big Game Five." Working with a German based mint, the Tanzanian government authorized the production of 1,500 Gold Notes with a face value of 1500 shillings for each of the five species.
Because of its vast wetlands, Tanzania hosts many water loving species and overall is home to 20% of Africa's total mammal population. Adult buffalos range in weight from 1,100 to 2,200 pounds. The females are reddish in color. African buffalo horns have a protective base that come close together forming a shield known as a "boss." At lower left on the reverse of the Note is a hologram image of a buffalo, while to the right is a connective motif in the series: the Mother/Offspring image. On the o
bverse of the one gram 1500 Shilling Gold Note is a depiction of giraffes, Tanzania's national animal, in effective hologram-like repeated silhouette. Nearly 70% of Tanzania's 45 million  people live in poverty, and this 1500 shilling Gold Note would have high value in that nation. Assay details about the Note are engraved on the top left on the obverse, and various security measures were  developed to prevent counterfeiting. The Note was produced in 2018 by Germany's B. H. Mayer Mint GmbH, known for their incredible repetitive Gold Note designs. At lower left on the obverse is Tanzania's national coat of arms. This Note is ID Number VR570105E. The Mayer Mint is known for its meticulous design details, and this Gold Note is no exception. What the Note lacks in color is more than made up by its mirror finish and awesome color changes when held to a light source.
