John H. Westervelt Sterling Silver Ice Tongs with Eagle Claws
19th century American sterling silver spoons by silversmith John L. Westervelt, of Newburgh, NY.
Westervelt hallmark, the star, lion and letter D, stamped on inside. Ivy pattern. Westervelt was active during the period 1848-1904.
This is a likely early 1860’s ice tong. Engraved “ M.M. Alden”
Approximately 6 3/4” and weighs 67 grams.
Very good condition. Wear, nicks, fine scratches, etc.
