In 1998, Creative acquired Ensoniq Corporation, manufacturer of the AudioPCI, a card popular  with OEMs at the time.
It was a full-featured solution with wavetable MIDI (sample-based synthesizer), 4-speaker  DirectSound3D surround sound, A3D emulation, and DOS legacy support via a TSR program.
Creative released many cards using the original AudioPCI chip, Ensoniq ES1370, and several  boards using revised versions of this chip (ES1371 and ES1373), and some with Creative-labeled  AudioPCI chips.
Boards using AudioPCI tech are usually easily identifiable by the board design and the chip size  because they all look quite similar.
    Such boards include Sound Blaster PCI64 (April 1998), PCI128 (July 1998) [

An ES137x chip contains 3 stereo sample rate converters, some buffers and a PCI busmaster  interface.
Analog interfacing is done by a codec chip, which runs at a fixed sampling frequency of 44  (Ensoniq Audio PCI) or 48 kHz (Creative's versions).
ES137x chips do not support SoundFonts; but a filterless MIDI engine with wavetable (sample  table) sets of 2, 4, and 8 MB size.

Sound Blaster is a family of sound cards designed by Creative Technology (known in the US as  Creative Labs).
Sound Blaster sound cards were the de facto standard for consumer audio on the IBM PC compatible  system platform in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
By 1995, Sound Blaster cards had sold over 15 million units worldwide and accounted for seven  out of ten sound card sales
    Testing
The testing setup consisisted of a fairly modern motherboard [ BIOSTAR TA75M ].
The sound card was seated in the motherboard and connected to a set of Logitech speakers via the  3.5 mm Line Out port.
Initially tested with a fully patched Windows 10 Operating System which partially recognized the  sound card as a Multimedia Audio Controller and produced no sound.
No suitable Windows 10 drivers could be located for the device --
This item is ** NOT PLUG & PLAY COMPATIBLE ** with current Windows  Operating Systems
-- Booted the computer with a fully patched Ubuntu 20.10 [ Groovy Gorilla ].
sound card was recognized [ by chipset as an Ensoniq AudioPCI ENS1371 ] and produced sound  without any further action --
again, the Line Out was the only port  tested
Screen shots were taken from the Windows 10 attempt showing the partially recognized card in  Device Manger.
HWiNFO64 was able to ferret out the correct model of Creative Sound Blaster Audio PCI128 4  Channel.
Screen shots were also taken from the Ubuntu System Profiler & Benchmark with the recognized  Ensoniq ENS1371 | Ensoniq ES1371/ES1373/Creative Labs CT2518 (rev07) chipset.
