    Description

    This auction is for an antique George III sterling silver pierced sugar tongs with vine, leaf and bright cut scrolling decoration and cast shell grips. London c.1775.
    The earliest tongs were constructed in three pieces. The yoke and two sides. The makers mark GS and silver standard mark near the solder joint as shown. By the 1780's tongs were constructed in one piece.
    In excellent antique condition with no damages nor repairs.
