Make your own .224 projectiles... from jackets and lead to finished projectiles!

Description

What is being offered is a tooling set to take 22 cal bullet jackets and turn them into jacketed bullets.  The tooling kit contains the tooling to turn a jacket and lead combination into a finished bullet.  The kit comes with written instructions.
What is  recommended is a  22 cal lead slug mold.
The process is an old one dating from WWII...the tooling however is new and unique.  You start with a 22lr expended case.  You use a swage tool (not included),  to iron out the case rim...this gives  you a bullet jacket of approx. 2225"...or you can purchase commercial bullet jackets .  With the bullet making tooling in your press, place the jacket, with lead that you have earlier sized, into the top of the die, and assemble with the lead penetrator (see Pic).  Replace the cap on top of the die, securing the penetrator, and then use a moderate force to displace the lead in the case...two things happen here...you size the jacket to it's correct diameter .224" , and you extrude and bond the lead in the interior of the case to provide for necessary support during the pointing operation.  Then open the top of the die, remove the penetrator, replace it with the pointer die, replace the cap to retain the pointer die, and carefully force the bullet into the pointer, forming the finished bullet.  Open the cap, remove the pointer die, and eject the finished bullet out of the top of the die...it is that simple, and takes less then 1 minute.  I used this die system to make the  bullets pictured.  They are 50 grain hollow points and 65 grain soft points.  Instructions are included with the kit...the loaded bullets are from a customer, who reports they are slightly over 80 grains.
Note that the  the rams for the bullet making process are suitable for any press that can accept a shell holder of 38/357 size.  All components where wear is a consideration are of hardened steel, the rams are of a strong alloy.  There is an insert in the die body that is hardened, ground and lapped to dimension.  The insert, penetrator and pointing components are dead hard tool steel.
Bullets are not part of the sale and will not be sent due to Ebay rules.

This die set was designed and built to allow the average shooter the ability to make his own 22 cal projectiles with easily available materials and at a very low cost in times where bullets may be very expensive or unavailable.  While the bullets made have the capacity for good accuracy if care is given, hunting grade accuracy (to say nothing of mil-grade accuracy), is available with only modest effort.  Cost was a primary concern in the design of this system.  It is being sold at almost 1/4 the cost of the next available kit sold, and almost 1/8 the cost of the top of the line Corbin-type systems.   It produces both open-tip bullets  (hollow point) as well as soft point lead, and will amortize the cost of the system with only 1000 bullets manufactured.  A former purchaser reports that the ammunition loaded with these bullets feed well through his weapons, give him 4" accuracy at range, and deform well on impact.
Note: this kit does not remove the rim from a 22lr case. If you do not have a "de-rimming" tool to turn the expended 22lr cases into bullet jackets, I sell one on this site.  If you wish to have soft pointed bullets of lighter weight, you might need the jacket sizing tool, which I also sell on this site.
